Should chocolate milk be served at schools or not? Sure, there’s a lot of different types of milk, but the one thing that makes chocolate milk different from others is that it has a lot of added sugar. Believe it or not, it’s not just chocolate milk, strawberry milk has 28 grams of added sugar. The point is that flavored milks tend to have more sugar than regular milk. it’s not just the sugar, there are also chemicals known to be in some chocolate milks.

Chocolate milk shouldn’t be served at schools because chocolate milk has more sugar than plain milk. chocolate milk has 11–17 grams of added sugar. Many kids don’t like plain milk, but many kids don’t like eating their vegetables either. Getting used to plain milk will take time, but in the end, our body’s will be liking something much healthier than chocolate milk.

Plain milk already has 12 grams of original sugar for every 8-ounce cup, so that means chocolate milk has 23–29 grams of sugar. That’s a lot of sugar. Another problem with chocolate milk is that a lot of kids drink it, so they are consuming more of it.

Blue = boys

Green = girls

My final reason is that chocolate milk contains a “chemical” known as Carrageenans or carrageenins that are a family of linear sulfated polysaccharides that are extracted from red edible seaweeds. They are widely used in the food industry, for their gelling, thickening, and stabilizing properties. Wikipedia

Chemicals can be harmful for the human body and should not be used in chocolate milk. if companies are going to be using chemicals, then why give their products to kids? Note:(not all companies use carrageenan.)

Here’s a diagram of what chemicals do to human body:

After all that chocolate milk contains, why keep it in school cafeterias for kids to buy? It just makes kids take in bad things.
